Assumptions

•      Photonics is a major opportunity for Latvia in research, business and economic development.

•      The government of Latvia appears to not understand the potential of photonics for the country.

•      No priority is placed on the development of photonics research and innovation.

•      Latvia has no national photonics strategy

•      Riga Photonics Centre sees itself as the facilitator of the development of photonics in Latvia

•      We have the responsibility of developing a national photonics strategy

 

Foresight seminar goals

•      Examine foresight as a method for development of a national photonics strategy

•      Discuss a plan for the development of a national photoniocs strategy

•      Identify action steps and responsibilities for the development of a national photonics strategy.
